New Delhi: Congress leader Anirudh Prasad alias Sadhu Yadav reiterated his stand on Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi saying he is the Prime Ministerial material. Speaking to CNN-IBN, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav's enstranged brother-in-law said, "There is no one who is better than Narendra Modi. Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi is not even in the race for it, he is far behind."

Bharatiya Janata Party poll panel chief Narendra Modi will be holding a workshop in New Delhi for its party spokespersons on the use of social media and modern technology to reach out to the young and first-time voters. The move can be seen as the party's preparation for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

The media workshop began in the morning.

He has maintained in earlier interactions with the party leadership that this section of voters is desperate for change. The number of people below the age of 35 is estimated to be around 65 per cent of the total population.

Nearly 10 months after the British government warmed upto Narendra Modi, the India groups of the country’s two main political parties have invited the Gujarat chief minister to visit the UK.

The ball was set rolling by the Opposition party’s Labour Friends of India when its chairman, Barry Gardiner MP, sent a letter to Modi last week inviting him to the House of Commons to speak on ‘The Future of Modern India’.

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday hit out at the Centre over Food Security Bill and inflation.

Modi claimed the government was imposing the Food Security Bill on the state governments without taking any responsibility for the success of the scheme.

 "I am surprised at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for saying that it's the state's responsibility to get grain during drought, failed crop," said Modi.

 A senior leader of Lalu Prasad's RJD has described BJP poll panel chief Narendra Modi as the "most popular" leader of the country today who has the capability to become Prime Minister.

Mocking the incumbent PM Manmohan Singh, RJD MLC Nawal Kishore Yadav told reporters on Tuesday night, "democracy is run by speeches and not by bullet."

Bharatiya Janata Party's campaign committee chief Narendra Modi is stepping up preparations for the coming Lok Sabha elections. He will hold a media management workshop in the national capital on August 17.

Modi is expected to devise a strategy to handle media ahead of the polls. Apart from Modi, Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj and Rajnath Singh will also be a part of the workshop.

All BJP spokespersons from across the country have been asked to be present. A day after the workshop, Modi will meet state BJP presidents.

Congress General Secretary Digvijaya Singh on Monday took a dig at Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP poll panel chief Narendra Modi for using US President Barack Obama's election pitch.

Digvijaya tweeted, "Now we have a FAKE DESI OBAMA too. FEKU at his best!"

His remarks came a day after Modi used Obama's war cry to flag off the BJP's election campaign in Hyderabad on Sunday. "Yes we can!" Modi chanted while winding up his address at a massive public meeting at the Lal Bahadur Stadium. He asked the people to echo him: "Yes, we can! Yes, we will do!"

A day after Justice RA Mehta declined to assume office as Gujarat Lokayukta, Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh on Thursday attacked Chief Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of double speak on corruption.

“Narendra Modi, who speaks against corruption, has no transparency in his functioning. Modi during his tenure has failed to appoint Lokayukta in the state which has left the common man with no option to complain against the state government’s corruption,” he told reporters.

In a statement DMK chief Karunanidhi also said that action will be taken against any MP who is found to have signed the letter. "Will take action against DMK MPs if they signed petition against US visa for Modi. DMK does not approve of interference in visa issue. DMK does not interfere with centre's foreign policy, and in internal affairs of a foreign country," Karunanidhi said in his statement.

“If (the Gujarat) chief minister Modi applies for a visa, his application will be considered to determine whether he qualifies for a visa, in accordance with US immigration law and policy,” state department spokesperson Jen Psaki, told reporters at her daily news conference.
