The protest in Seemandhra over the central government’s decision to carve out separate Telangana state is set to intensify with the government employees going ahead with their indefinite strike from Monday midnight.

Andhra Pradesh Non-Gazetted Officers (APNGO) association, which represents employees of Seemandhra (Rayalaseema and Andhra) announced its decision to go ahead with the strike after its talks with a group of ministers failed.

APNGO president P. Ashok Babu said four lakh employees would go on strike as the central and state ministers, MPs and state legislators from Seemandhra have not resigned for keeping the state united as demanded by the employees.

Congress created hostility between Telangana and Seemandhra: Modi.

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday tried to do a balancing act on the issue of division of Andhra Pradesh saying that both Telangana and Seemandhra are equally important for BJP.

Though Andhra Pradesh had contributed the highest number of MPs for Congress to come to power at the Centre, Congress ended up creating only hostile atmosphere between the two regions of the state, he said.

Modi was addressing a massive public meeting here, his first campaign rally since his anointment as BJP's poll campaign committee chief.

Andhra CM Kiran Reddy still opposed to Telangana?

Almost a week after the Centre gave its nod to the creation of Telangana as a separate state and initiated the proceedings for the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, its Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy is still opposed to the division of the southern state.

Reports, Tuesday, said that the Chief Minister Reddy has written a letter to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi urging her to keep the state united.

11:27 AM: Two TDP Rajya Sabha MPs rushed to the protesting against Telangana. Another MP was also in the Well on the Bodoland issue. None of the MPS raised the issue of suspension of IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal.

Congress decision on Telangana likely today, tight security across AP.

It's D-Day for Telangana as UPA allies are likely to discuss the Congress Core Group's proposal to create a separate state. The Congress Working Committee is set to meet after that meeting at 5.30 on Tuesday evening where the proposal is likely to be discussed.

The CWC is then likely to pass a resolution, which may endorse creating a separate state of Telangana. The CWC resolution may address other demands for separate states and is likely to suggest setting of a state reorganisation committee.

11:37 am: Andhra Congress leaders to meet Rahul Gandhi at 12.30 pm to discuss Telangana. Meanwhile, Human and Resource Development Minister Pallam Raju after meeting Digvijaya Singh said that any decision on Telangana will have long term implications in Andhra Pradesh.

11:08 am: Seemandhra leaders met Congress senior leader Digvijaya Singh. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy has left for New Delhi to meet Congress president Sonia Gandhi to express his reservation over Telangana.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu said that the BJP's stand is clear on the Telangana issue. "We do not know what the Congress is doing as they have not taken us in loop. Our stand is clear, We Created 3 states when we were in power, there is no question of opposing it we are in favor of it.
