Manmohan-Singh-Vs-Narendra-In a dare to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh ahead of the Independence Day, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has suggested that his speech on Thursday will be more worth listening to than Manmohan Singh's.
"India will listen to two speeches - my speech from Lalan College in Bhuj and the Prime Minister's speech at the Red Fort. The country will compare the two speeches," Modi said.
Reacting to Mod's remarks, Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari said the Gujarat Chief Minister should withdraw his remarks.

food security billThe government is expected to table the Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Bill, 2011 and National Food Security Bill in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. But even even before the two landmark bills are tabled in Parliament, there has been some controversy too.
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh opposing the Food Security Bill. Modi has claimed that state governments are not being given a say in determining 'the eligibility criteria' and has asked him to call a meeting of chief ministers on the bill.

delhi-election-mapNew Delhi has been put on high alert ahead of Independence day after the police received two warning letters from the Intelligence Bureau. These letters warn of a possible terror attack by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). More than 530 important installations have been identified as a highly sensitive across state. The number of security personnel have also been increased in these areas.
The Intelligence Bureau had flagged off an alert to the Delhi Police about 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed. Sources say the intelligence agency gathered inputs that Saeed could be planning an attack in Delhi.

Opposition parties are likely to move amendments to the bill that proposes to give two-third of the population the right to highly subsidised food. Food Minister KV Thomas said, "This bill will make food a legal right."
On July 5, the Food Security Ordinance was promulgated sparking speculation of early elections and on August 7, 33 days later, the revised Food Security Bill was introduced in the Monsoon Session amidst ruckus. The landmark legislation is believed to be crucial to the Congress party's electoral fortunes and is expected to be put to vote on Monday.

TH08 DIGVIJAY 264911eCongress General Secretary Digvijaya Singh on Monday took a dig at Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP poll panel chief Narendra Modi for using US President Barack Obama's election pitch.
Digvijaya tweeted, "Now we have a FAKE DESI OBAMA too. FEKU at his best!"
His remarks came a day after Modi used Obama's war cry to flag off the BJP's election campaign in Hyderabad on Sunday. "Yes we can!" Modi chanted while winding up his address at a massive public meeting at the Lal Bahadur Stadium. He asked the people to echo him: "Yes, we can! Yes, we will do!"

Almost a week after the Centre gave its nod to the creation of Telangana as a separate state and initiated the proceedings for the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, its Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy is still opposed to the division of the southern state.
Reports, Tuesday, said that the Chief Minister Reddy has written a letter to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi urging her to keep the state united.

The Janata Dal(U) on Wednesday directed its two MLAs in the Jharkhand Assembly to vote against the Hemant Soren-led government during the vote of confidence tomorrow.
"The party's national leadership has asked MLAs Gopal Krishna Patar and Sudha Choudhary to vote against the government in tomorrow's floor test," senior leader of the JDU's Jharkhand unit, Pramod Mishra, said here.

The Soren-led Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) government was formed July 13. Soren was asked by Governor Syed Ahmad to prove his majority within a week. Consequently, a special Assembly session has been convened on Thursday.

Complaint filed against Modi’s ‘puppy’ remark in Hyderabad.

Modi1LLA complaint has been filed against Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi at a police station in Hyderabad on Sunday over remarks he made about the post-Godhra riots.
Ghulam Rabbani, a practising advocate, lodged the two-page complaint with Santosh Nagar police station, seeking legal action against Modi and his immediate arrest terming his statements as “highly provocative and malicious against Muslim community, with an intention to wound their religious feelings and promote enmity between Muslims and Hindus”.

JMM Leader Said: 'Jharkhand may soon have JMM-led government'.

Jharkhand may get a government led by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and supported by the Congress and other parties after President's rule in the state ends July 18, a senior JMM leader said on Tuesday.
"Talks with Congress are going on in positive direction and the state may soon have a new government led by our party," a JMM leader told a news agency.
Senior Congress leader Shakeel Ahmad, Congress's Jharkhand in-charge BK Hariprasad and other party leaders met JMM chief Shibu Soren here Tuesday. "Everything will be cleared before July 18," Ahmad said after the meeting.
