RJD leader praises Modi, says he is PM material, mocks Manmohan.

 A senior leader of Lalu Prasad's RJD has described BJP poll panel chief Narendra Modi as the "most popular" leader of the country today who has the capability to become Prime Minister.

Mocking the incumbent PM Manmohan Singh, RJD MLC Nawal Kishore Yadav told reporters on Tuesday night, "democracy is run by speeches and not by bullet."

2:35 pm: Nitish’s govt wins trust vote with 126 votes in his favour

Finally it was an easy win for Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar who won the trust vote easily with 126 votes in favour of the government. He got four votes more than expected.

There were only 24 votes against the government given the BJP chose not to participate in the trust vote. A pity given the BJP could have made the contest a little closer.

It’s likely that the four independent MLAs (here’s some details about them) and four Congress MLAs were the eight MLAs that edged the government over the required number. Expect the four independent MLAs to fill the slots vacated by the BJP.

Two days after snapping ties with the Bharatiya Janata Party, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar seem to be warming up to the Congress.

Hours after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh called Nitish a secular leader, the Bihar Chief Minister thanked him saying, "What the PM has said is right. I thank him for that. There is no hidden message in that."

Manmohan Singh reached out to the Janata Dal United leader on Monday saying he is a secular leader. The PM also said that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is not a threat to the Congress in the next Lok Sabha election.
