It's a prince!

The Duchess of Cambridge gave birth Monday to her first child, an 8-pound, 6-ounce boy at 4:24 p.m. local time (11:24 a.m. ET).

The official announcement, placed on an easel outside Buckingham Palace.

The palace revealed the news via press release at 8 p.m. local time following a hospital stay that lasted more than 14 hours at London's St. Mary’s Hospital, the same facility where Princes William and Harry were born.

The baby's birth was to be announced to the world in a formal declaration placed in front of Buckingham Palace on an easel, the same one used to announce Prince William’s birth 31 years ago. But the palace released the news to the media first; the formal notice was posted a few minutes later.

Social networking giant Facebook has introduced a new native Messenger app that lets users chat with friends 'without opening the website'.

According to Facebook, the app is only available to Windows users, but the company added that Mac users would get it soon. It was officially launched in March after leaking in December, and it is slowly rolling out to users, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Breaking all myths of Kashmiris being sidelined in the national cricket squad, Pervez Rasool, the offspinning all rounder has become the first person from the Valley to wear the team India cap.

Pervez Rasool, along with Haryana player Mohit Sharma, has been picked for the Indian team for the tour of Zimbabwe.

For Rasool the news was unexpected. "It is every cricketer's dream to play for the country and my dream has finally come true today," Rasool told Hindustan Times after hearing the news of his selection.

Incidently Rasool was in a photoshoot for HT when he got the news.

For him, this is a comeback of sorts. In November 2009, Rasool caught the nation's attention for all the wrong reasons.

The under-22 cricketer from Bijbehara village in South Kashmir, was detained by Karnataka police at Chinnaswamy stadium for allegedly being involved in a terrorist attack.

The police had claimed that traces of explosives were found in his cricket kit. Later, the all-rounder was released after forensic investigation cleared his name.

Pakistani actor Humaima Malick received critical acclaim for her performance in Pakistani director Shoaib Mansoor's Bol (2011), where she plays a convict on death row who decides to tell her story to the media. Soon, conjectures over Humaima Malick's Bollywood entry were rife, and her name was attached to a couple of projects.

Yet, Humaima's Bollywood debut might come sooner rather than later. She might star opposite Emraan Hashmi in a — tentatively titled Shaatir —as the female lead. The model-turned-actor has already gone through an extensive screen test. Humaima has impressed everyone, including director Kunal Deshmukh.

"The producers as well as the director won't be ready to talk about her casting yet, since the nitty-gritty of the contract is being worked out. And they don't want to jump the gun before signing her formally, since she is from Pakistan and no one knows what kind of issues might crop up," the insider adds.
