72% satisfied with the BJP government’s performance in MP: Survey

NEW DELHI: BJP looks set to not only retain power in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, but to increase its majority in both assemblies in the impending state elections, according to an opinion poll for a television channel.

The findings will come as a morale booster for the Bhartiya Janata Party and an alarm bell for the Congress in elections that are being regarded as trailers for the general elections due next year.

Not a single tainted candidate would be allowed to contest for any elections from AAP ticket. In last Delhi Assembly elections, Congress and BJP gave tickets to 19 tainted candidates each, while BSP gave tickets to 15 candidates with criminal backgrounds.

In a major tribute to the Congress leaders killed in May 25 Maoist ambush in Bastar, opposition Congress on Friday nominated their kith and kin to contest the next month's assembly polls in Chhattisgarh as it released its first list of 17 out of 90 candidates.

The Central Election Committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party met on Sunday along with Rajnath Singh and announced the names of the candidates for the Chhattisgarh assembly elections.

The meeting was attended by L.K. Advani, Murali Manohar Joshi, Sushma Swaraj, Narendra Modi and all the members of the Central Election Committee of the BJP.
